Dr Kate Mitchell
Dr Kate Mitchell is excited to be commencing as a Specialist Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with Hobart OBGYN in February 2020 and pleased to be taking new referrals.
She is originally from Western Australia, where she studied Public Health as an undergraduate then completed her postgraduate medical degree in 2009. As a junior doctor, she worked at King Edward Memorial Hospital before commencing her specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Royal Women’s Hospital in Melbourne. A rural rotation led her to Launceston in 2015, where she fell in love with Tasmania and a Tasmanian, who is now her husband.
Dr Mitchell completed her Advanced Training in Hobart, including a year of advanced pelvic surgery with the Gynaecological Oncologists and most recently training in Ultrasound and Fertility. She has completed part one of her Diploma in Diagnostic Ultrasound (Obstetrics and Gynaecology) and continues towards completing this qualification.
When not at work, she is kept busy by her two young daughters and enjoys exploring the beauty of the Tasmanian wilderness.
She is happy to accept both obstetric and gynaecological referrals, and is passionate about providing high quality care to the women of Hobart. Her interests are laparoscopic surgery, cervical screening abnormalities and colposcopy, general gynaecology, ultrasound as well as low and high-risk obstetrics.
