Jane Barker
Physiotherapist
Jane Barker is the longest practicing Pelvic floor Physiotherapist in Tasmania. She obtained post graduate qualifications in Continence and Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation at Melbourne University in 2003 and has worked exclusively in this field for 20 years. She is as enthusiastic as when she first started and draws on her own life experiences to help offer the best service possible to her patients.
Over the past two decades Jane has been lucky enough to work closely with many of Hobart's Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and Bladder and Bowel specialists. She has mentored several other Pelvic Floor Physiotherapists during this time. as well as providing many other pelvic floor education sessions to the general community and other members of the medical fraternity.
Jane treats all types of pelvic floor issues, seeing both men and women of all ages. Prolapse, bladder and bowel incontinence/leakage and dysfunction, ranging from urgency and frequency to bladder pain and constipation. She helps manage pelvic pain conditions including endometriosis, vulvodynia, vaginismus and painful sex. She also sees men with erectile dysfunction and pre and post prostatectomy and women pre and post prolapse repair and hysterectomy. Jane loves helping support women through their pregnancies, drawing from her own experience of having three babies in three and a half years! She aims for a quick recovery and return to life and exercise post delivery.
